Children: Boosters and the back seat
Boosters through age 8
Children who have outgrown child safety seats should be properly restrained in booster seats until they are at least 8 years old and they are 4'9" tall.
Unfortunately, this is the step most parents miss.
The safest place for children
Studies continue to show that children under 13 are less likely to die if they are seated in the rear seat. A 2009 study showed the recent shift of children to the back seat of vehicles has resulted in significant fatality reductions.
Remember, all children under 13 should ride in the rear sear. It's still the safest place for children.
